University presses have too often suffered because of a diluted form of the same thinking, resulting in a largely under‐resourced sector, yet one that retains a formidable reputation among academic faculty for integrity and rigour. These challenges and opportunities for university presses were explored at the second University Press Redux conference hosted by UCL Press and ALPSP at the British Library, February 2018, from whence the papers in this issue arise.
