Leveraging metrics to drive data sharing at the Science journals

The importance of open and clear communication of the entire research process—which includes the free public sharing of data, methods, results, and code—allows others to replicate findings, which ensures research integrity and reproducibility. In 2015, a group of journal editors, funders, and academics proposed some guidelines to promote such transparency, and in 2017, a working group used these recommendations to develop a framework—Materials Design Analysis Reporting (MDAR)—that could be implemented as a checklist for journals and authors.
