Open enquiry is at the heart of scientific endeavour, and rapid technological change has profound implications for the way that science is both conducted and communicated. Research is being transformed in particular by the increasing availability of digital data and new technologies for gathering, processing and generating digital resources.

The importance of open access to research data is reflected in the Commission Communication « Towards better access to scientific information : Boosting the benefits of public investments in research » (COM(2012) 401) (…) «
